Saturday evening Chad and Dad headed for the Ohio River. It was very windy and very chilly outside. The River was rolling four footers and we almost loaded the boat back up…but Chad suggested we try it anyway. So we fished the 68 degree water and ended up having a good time. Chad banged a few small ones on a drop shot. Then the chunky Kentucky Spotted bass began biting the crank-bait. Then the Smallies began chiming in; and then the Largemouth Bass showed up. We had three species of Bass on the hook in the 70% clear water conditions. Had fun and they were still biting until I broke the cable on the trolling motor and we had to leave and go pay Trolling motor Rod a visit. He got me up and running for Sunday. Supposed to be windy tomorrow. Didn’t hurt the Bass today. Tough holding the boat. Fun catching the fish.
I love the first major cold front under these conditions. It turns Ohio River Bass are on! All three species.
P.S…Had a few in the three plus range.
