The time has finally come after four years of stocking Musky at East Fork Lake! Chad made it happen on Thanksgiving! First good quality Musky we’ve boated. A whooping 38 incher, and perhaps a three year old fish. When Chad hooked it, Dad just sat back and took notes.
It all began after I raised a nice Musky while Bass Fishing. It came clear out of the water and attacked my bait, but missed it. Then, while we continued to Bass fish the same area Chad decided to throw a big Shad bait already tied on. Bang! One got it! It was a ferrocious 38″ East Fork keeper and it climbed all ove Chad’s bait. Chad was pumping the bait with erratic action and enticed it to strike. The fight was on! It was a tail walking Musky that cleared the water three times. What a beauty!
After it was over Becky Powers came down and took these two nice pictures. Then we released this 38″ prize from East Fork as we decided to let it grow for perhaps more fun for the next fisherman. My speculation is there are better days and much bigger Musky coming soon. Perhaps Spring 2012.
East Fork Lake has 6800 11-14″ Muskies stocked since Sept. 2008. 2011 was the forth stocking by the State of Ohio. Also many baby “fry” muskies were stocked and not counted over the four year stocking period. These Muskies are growing fast. The first “Husky Musky/40 incher” is predicted in 2012. I speculate East Fork will be a great Musky Lake…in Chad and Dad’s backyard. We’re hoping.Rick Roehm
