Chad’s been having a little Bluegill action, “Again” in January! Can you believe it? January Bluegills in Ohio farmponds. Chad makes it happen!
It’s been a mild Winter in Williamsburg, Ohio and no a big freeze, “yet”. The ponds, lakes, and small waters have only been “lightly frozen” with a small skim of ice. When he warm air comes in from the South and the Sun shines britely…the ponds warm up slightly, ice melts, and fish eat. Fish get active under these conditions, especially Bluegills.
Chad’s been making Bluegill action happen on GULP maggots, hooked “T-style” on a small hook under a floater. The bite usually happens on the windy side of the pond where the water temp is slightly warmer from the wind and Sun.
Chad caught 15 nice Bluegill this past week while enjoying life fishing Ohio farmponds…in January. Don’t let the Winter Blues keep you down. Bluegills will bite if the ponds aren’t frozen. Chad also caught a Largemouth Bass, and Crappie!
Have fun fishing. Enjoy life like Chad does. Southwestern Ohio Bluegills will bite in January. Thanks for stopping by Southwestern Ohio Fishing.
