March, 2012 has been fine Bassin this year. The month of April, 2012 is starting off even better. East Fork (a flood control Lake) is extremely low once again due to Ramp repairs. East Fork’s water depth is stable now (super low) but the Bass are biting! Water temp is in the low 60’s. Full Moon last night and northern cold front “turned Bass on”. Chad and Dad are having a blast catching Bass this year.
Fishing East Fork is usually the same old thing year after year. Same structure, same patterns, and the same water clarity. It’s different this year because of low water. A world of difference in this warm April of 2012. The Lake’s depth is so low it’s also a complete new fishing strategy. New structure, new bank lines, totally different Bass habitat. Fun fishing and a great time of the year. Mother Nature is cooperating.
Bass are stable. Pre-spawn season is now. Bass are staging; coming up for the spawn. They are biting, “Great”. As a matter of fact Largemouth Bass are on fire. Rightfully so! April, full moon, lots of bait fish activity, and lots of crawdad activity. Every thing is right for Largemouth Bassin on the Fork.
Chad and Dad love it! We experiment with lots of different lures. We’re having fun as long as it lasts. It’s early this year also, but it’s probably that way everywhere in our local Southwestern Ohio Lakes. Bass are on fire because everything is right.
I encourage everyone to be super careful boating at East Fork because low water makes it very dangerous when running. Lots of humps and gravel bars close to the surface.
As for Bassin…it great right now. Won’t be like this for long. Do it while you can. Hope to see you there. From Chad and Dad, “Enjoy life fishing”. God Bless and don’t forget about the Good Lord when enjoying the outdoors. Full Moon, cold front, and East Fork Largemouth on fire.
